mike CMichael E. Campbell is Interim  Chief Operating Officer and Chief Information Officer for the Imperial Irrigation District.  

Mr. Campbell began working for the district in June 2006 as CIO and manager of the Information Technology Department. He is responsible for the oversight and management of existing information and computer technology systems and operations, as well as for the planning and implementation of the district’s future IT needs.  

In August 2006, in addition to his role as CIO, he became the General Services Manager responsible for Facilities Management, Materials & Stores warehousing, Real Estate, Environmental, Regulatory and Emergency Planning, Fleet Management and Records Management Services. 

In August 2007, and while continuing his General Services Manager/CIO duties, Mr. Campbell was named to the new Chief Operating Officer position to assist department managers in implementing organizational changes in the areas of project management and business process reengineering.  In September 2007, Mr. Campbell was named acting general manager, a position in which he served through mid-April, 2008.  

Prior to joining the IID, Mr. Campbell worked as the Director of Special Projects for the state of Kansas in the Department of Administration. There he helped lead key cabinet and state agency functions toward improved, more cost-effective business practices resulting in over $1 billion in savings to the taxpayers of Kansas.  

Previous to the state of Kansas, Mr. Campbell held several key IT management positions at Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc., a pet food manufacturing, sales and distribution division of Colgate Palmolive. His broad IT experience at Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc., included: application support of Hill’s sales order, inventory, warehouse and distribution management systems; call center systems support; development, deployment and support of packaged software for veterinarian clinics; as Director of Technical Infrastructure, he was responsible for global telecommunications, network operations, help desk services and SAP data center operations. 

Mr. Campbell holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Arizona State University.
