 Dan DeVoy is the manager of the Imperial Irrigation District’s Human Resources Department. He joined the IID in September 2006 after having worked for the Imperial County for six years.

The IID employs more than 1,300 people, many of whom work in diverse, and sometimes complex, jobs. The district’s Human Resources Department manages employee benefits, employment and compensation, security, claims and investigations, safety, and employee training and development services.

While working for Imperial County, Mr. DeVoy served as human resources and risk management director for two years, where he managed a staff of 15 in all aspects of human resources and risk management. Imperial County employs more than 2,000 people. He was promoted to the position after having worked as assistant director of human resources and risk management for the county, where he managed the day-to-day operations of the department for four years.

Dan’s experience includes collective bargaining, employee relations and working with staff and departments to ensure consistent application of personnel policies.

Dan also worked as director of human resources for El Centro Regional Medical Center, where he managed all aspects of human resources for the 107-bed hospital with 650 employees. He has also served as personnel and training director for Imperial Stores, worked as project manager for the Downtown El Centro Association, been employed as a business consultant and was an account manager for Sun World, a produce wholesaler.

DeVoy holds a master of business administration degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a bachelor of science in agricultural business management from California Polytechnic University, Pomona. He also attended Imperial Valley College.

He has been active in professional associations as well as in the community. He was a member of County Personnel Administrators Association of California, served as a board member of the California State Association of Counties Excess Insurance Authority and was a member of the California Public Employers Labor Relations Association. His community service includes: current member of Imperial Valley Employer’s Consortium, past chair of Imperial Valley EEOC Advisory Council, and board positions with the Private Industry Council of Imperial County.He and son Drew live in El Centro.
