Michael L. King is the Manager of Imperial Irrigation District’s Water Department.  

Mr. King joined the District in 1969 as a Draftsman in the Water Department’s Engineering Services Section. Through a series of promotions, he was an Engineering Aide, Assistant Engineer and Engineering Technician, Senior. He became Construction Superintendent for the Drainage and Construction Section in 1986. In 1989, he was promoted to Assistant General Superintendent for the Project Management Section and in 1994 became the Section’s General Superintendent. He was named General Superintendent of Water Administrative Services in 1998. He was promoted to Assistant Manager, Water Department in March 1999, and to his current position in May 2000.

Mr. King studied engineering at Imperial Valley College, where he received an Associate of Science Degree in 1967.

Before coming to the District, Mr. King was a Design Draftsman at Valley Nitrogen from 1967 to 1969.

Mr. King has been a member of the Imperial Valley Football Officials Association since 1970 and has been an active member and deacon of the Valley Baptist Church since 1976.   Mr. King and his wife, Margaret, have three children and five grandchildren.
