Pump Efficiency Program / Energy Department- Commercial Efficiency -
The Pumping Efficiency Program is an educational and financial incentive program intended to improve overall water pumping efficiency and encourage energy conservation in the IID service area. Eligibility extends to all owners or users of a non-residential IID energy account that is primarily used for pumping water for agricultural production, landscape or turf irrigation, or municipal purposes including potable and tertiary-treated (reclaimed) water, but excluding pumps used for industrial processes, raw sewage or secondary-treated sewage. Customers with questions regarding eligibility should contact IID prior to outlaying funds. Pump retrofit/replacement and testing financial incentives for energy savings Rebates are available to encourage the retrofit or replacement of eligible electrically powered water pumps to improve overall pumping efficiency. The rebate incentive is based on $.09/kWh x Annual kWh x (pre-post improvement efficiency). PEP will also pay up to $200 for the cost of post-retrofit pump tests for eligible electrically powered water pumps that are 20 horsepower or greater and are serviced by an IID energy account. The average business owner could see a potential annual savings of 20,000 to 60,000 kilowatt-hours of energy. This could mean a yearly savings of up to $2,600 to $7,800. Technical assistance IID staff is available to help locate pump efficiency testers, complete a pump retrofit/replacement incentive application form or answer general questions as to pumping system design and use. Staff will also be available at educational seminars at IID offices and at various other times and locations to offer additional assistance. Site-specific engineering services may be available for qualifying projects. Interested customers should contact the PEP program manager at 760-482-3505.
