Discount Rate & Energy Efficiency Bonus Plan IID’s basic REAP discount is 15 percent; however, we now offer an additional 10 percent Energy Efficiency Bonus Plan to customers who lower their energy usage through simple energy efficiency efforts. (To participate in the bonus plan, a 12-month usage history at the same residence is required.) Here’s how it works: 15 % Standard REAP discount 10% Reduction in usage through energy efficiency 10% Energy Efficiency Bonus Plan 30+ Potential discount/savings
If you have a 12-month history on file, your REAP discount will be 25 percent. For the next three months, you will be billed at this rate. IID will compare your usage in 2009 against 2008, and if you can show an average 10 percent reduction in energy usage, you will remain at the 25 percent discount rate. If not, you will be billed at the 15 percent discount rate and will be eligible for another review in six months. If at that time you have reduced your usage by 10 percent, you will then qualify for the 25 percent discount. If you have not lived in your home for the required 12-month period, your REAP discount will be adjusted to 15 percent. You will be eligible for the 25 percent bonus plan as soon as you have been in your home for the required 12 month period. Most customers can reduce their energy usage by doing simple things like changing to compact fluorescent light bulbs and setting their thermostat to 78 degrees or higher in the summer.
