Employee Benefits / Human Resources-
IID is pleased to offer our employees a comprehensive benefits package. Here are a few things you should know: Who is eligible for benefits? All full-time, regular employees who are in an at-work status on the effective date of their benefits eligibility date. Newly hired, full-time, regular employees are eligible for medical benefits the first of the month following thirty-one (31) days of continuous service. Pre-existing condition limitations apply if proof of uninterrupted health insurance coverage is not provided. Employees must be in at-work status on the effective date of their benefits eligibility date. Newly hired employees must attend the new hire orientation scheduled the month prior to their effective date of coverage or enrollment in some plans may be affected. Dependent coverage is optional and the employee must enroll the dependents. Newly hired employees have thirty-one (31) days in which to enroll their dependents from the date of hire. Pre-existing condition limitations apply if proof of interrupted health insurance coverage is not provided. Proof of marriage, birth, and/or legal guardianship must be provided at the time of enrollment for each dependent. Dependents are spouse, children, stepchildren, legally adopted children, and children for whom you are the legal guardian. Dependent children are eligible up to age 21 providing they are not married and are not working full-time. If they are full-time students at an accredited college or university, they may be covered up to age 24 depending on the Plan. Full-time student status means they must be carrying 12 units or more and the employee must provide evidence of full-time student status each semester to remain eligible. Dental and supplemental plan coverage may have different dependent age limitations. Domestic partners may be covered as provided by California law. Newborn dependents will automatically be covered for the first 31 days of life. In order for coverage to continue beyond the first 31 days, the dependent will need to be added to the plan. If the newborn is not added to the plan their benefits will cease upon the 32nd day and they will not be eligible until the next open enrollment period. Deleting dependents can only be done during the open enrollment period unless they no longer meet dependent eligibility requirements. Be careful when deleting dependents, otherwise you may find yourself having to secure a costly individual medical plan for that dependent. Open Enrollment. Open enrollment is held the third quarter of each year—usually October thru November. All enrollment paperwork must be submitted prior to the last day of open enrollment or enrollment changes will not be considered. No exceptions and no excuses will be made, in order that we can meet our payroll, carrier, and administrator reporting timeframes.
