John Pierre Menvielle is the Imperial Irrigation District director representing Division 2, which includes Imperial, Seeley and part of El Centro. 

Director Menvielle serves as adviser for the district’s integrated water resources plan and comprehensive infrastructure plans for energy generation, transmission and distribution. 

Mr. Menvielle was elected to the board in November 2004 and earned a second term having won the primary election in 2008.

Menvielle is a farmer and businessman, serving as general manager and grower for John F. Menvielle Farms, a vegetable and field crop family farming operation. John Pierre is a third-generation Imperial Valley farmer, having been actively involved in farming since 1971. 

Menvielle was raised in Calexico, attended Imperial Valley College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agronomy from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. 

He has been a member of the IID Water Conservation Advisory Board since 1985; served as a member of the Regional Water Control Board Colorado River Basin Region from 1982-86; served as chair of the Imperial County Whitefly Management Committee for the Lower Colorado River Basin; served as chairman of the Regional Water Quality Control Board Colorado River Basin Region Total Maximum Daily Load Technical Advisory Committee; former board member of Imperial Valley Farm Bureau; former co-chair of Imperial Valley United; and served as trustee for the McCabe Union Elementary School District. 

Director Menvielle’s term of office expires December 2012.
