Water Asset Replacement Study / Water Department- About IID Water Dept. -
As part of the strategic planning process, IID staff was tasked with developing comprehensive infrastructure plans of IID’s assets (strategic objective D). Initial work on this objective was performed collaboratively by Energy, Water and Centralized Services staff. As the work progressed, the objective was split into four subunits to narrow the focus of the objective to specific asset categories. The four subunits are Generation, Transmission & Distribution, Water and Centralized Services. The Water Department contracted with R.W. Beck, Inc., to develop a Water asset replacement planning/funding model. The tasks were to identify and collect asset data; obtain inventory and estimate replacement/refurbishment factors; develop the model; prepare draft and final reports and make a presentation to the Board of Directors; and train Water Department staff. R.W. Beck, Inc. has finalized the development of the model and has prepared a final report detailing the key findings and recommendations of the asset replacement model.
