What to Expect at During Your Assessment
What is an energy audit?
An energy audit consists of a consultation with an Energy Specialist designed to help you understand the electric consumption of your home or business. A qualified specialist will examine your home or business and help you find ways to reduce energy consumption, improve comfort and lower energy bills.
What happens at the energy audit?
An energy audit representative will start by providing you with your electrical usage for the prior twelve months. We have found that reviewing usage helps our customers understand their consumption. The energy audit representative will also inquire about the outcome you were hoping to accomplish during the energy audit. This will help ensure our representative answers your specific questions and concerns. We will walk around the inside and outside of your home or business taking inventory of the different systems in your home or business (plumbing, heating/cooling, water storage, building envelope, appliances, lighting, etc), while answering any questions you might have.
How long will the energy audit last?
A typical consultation will last anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour. This should allow adequate time for the energy audit representative to discuss your usage with you and examine your home or business for energy saving opportunities. We require that an adult be at the home or business during the entire consultation.
What do I need to do to prepare for my energy audit?
During the audit, the energy audit representative may require access to all of the rooms in your home or business. If you have a concern regarding an energy audit representative entering the rooms of your home or business, please discuss those concerns with the energy audit representative when scheduling your appointment.
What will be the outcome of the energy audit?
Upon the completed examination the energy audit representative will generate a report that summarizes the existing conditions in your home or business, identify potential energy saving measures and provide direction towards additional resources and energy saving remediation. The audit report will be either mailed or e-mailed to you based on your preference.
