Every day, Imperial Irrigation District engineers tackle complex challenges to ensure safe, reliable water and power for our community. This week, their dedication is in the spotlight as IID recognizes Engineers Week, February 22–28.
In recognition of the critical role engineers have across all departments of the District, the IID Board of Directors has adopted a resolution honoring the professionals whose work supports system reliability, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
“Our engineers use their scientific and technical skills in creative and innovative ways to fulfill our needs at the District, helping make water and power services dependable and reliable for our customers,” said IID Chairwoman Karin Eugenio. “As we face new challenges, the District will continue to rely on their knowledge and expertise to meet them.”
IID’s engineers design, operate, and maintain the nation’s largest irrigation district system, which delivers approximately 2.6 million acre-feet of water to the Imperial Valley each year. They also support one of California’s largest public power systems, serving a region of more than 6,000 square miles.
The theme for this year’s Engineers Week is “Transform Your Future,” reflects how engineering drives opportunity, builds resilient communities and inspires the next generation of problem-solvers.
Beyond their daily responsibilities, IID engineers invest in the future workforce by supporting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education through classroom presentations, community events, and hands-on activities.
IID proudly recognizes the engineers whose work delivers real-world results, strengthens our communities, and helps secure a sustainable future for generations to come.
In appreciation of the amazing accomplishments of IID engineers, the Board of Directors recognizes Engineers Week.
