As summer approaches and energy demand begins to rise, the Imperial Irrigation District is rolling out a new set of programs designed to help customers better manage their electricity use and lower their bills. 

The effort, called the 2026 Summer Savings initiative, builds on the District’s existing customer programs while introducing new options aimed at making energy savings more accessible during the hottest months of the year. 

At the center of the initiative is a mix of incentives and tools that encourage customers to shift when they use electricity, particularly during peak hours when demand on the system is highest. One of the new programs, Shift & Save!, offers a one-time $250 prepaid Mastercard to eligible customers who enroll in IID’s optional Time-of-Use rate. The program is also open to existing participants who meet the requirements. 

IID is also launching the IID Power Store, an online marketplace where customers can access instant rebates on energy-efficient products, and introducing EnergyFlex, a voluntary program that encourages customers to reduce or shift energy use during periods of high demand. 

Alongside these new programs, the District is expanding several existing efforts. Additional funding will support energy efficiency upgrades in local schools and improve lighting in community spaces. Other changes are aimed at making programs easier to access, including shortening eligibility cycles for home energy upgrades, expanding appliance replacement options for qualifying customers, and reducing wait times for refrigerator recycling services. 

Together, the programs reflect a broader focus on helping customers take a more active role in managing their energy use, while supporting the reliability of the overall system during the summer months.

IID lanza iniciativa de ahorro de verano 2026 para ayudar a los clientes a ahorrar energía y dinero 

Con la llegada del verano y el aumento en el uso de energía, el Distrito de Riego de Imperial (IID, por sus siglas en inglés) está ofreciendo nuevos programas para ayudar a los clientes a utilizar la electricidad de manera más eficiente y pagar menos en sus facturas.

La iniciativa, llamada Ahorro de Verano 2026, mejora los programas que ya existen y agrega nuevas opciones para que sea más fácil ahorrar durante los meses más calurosos.

El enfoque principal es ayudar a los clientes a cambiar la hora en que usan la electricidad, sobre todo durante las horas pico cuando la demanda es más alta. Uno de los nuevos programas, Ajuste y Ahorre (Shift & Save), ofrece una tarjeta prepagada de $250 a los clientes que califiquen y se inscriban en la tarifa opcional de Tiempo de Uso. Este programa también está disponible para clientes que ya participan y cumplen con los requisitos.
