IID celebrates Public Power Week Oct. 7-13
Imperial Irrigation District is celebrating Public Power Week, Oct. 7-13, along with more than 2,000 other community-owned, not-for-profit electric utilities that collectively provide electricity to 49 million Americans.
“We are proud to be community powered,” said Henry Martinez, manager, Energy Department. “Public power puts the people of the communities it serves first, and Public Power Week gives us the chance to emphasize the advantages of locally grown, locally owned power to our customers.”
“Our service is reliable and safe and we take pride in serving our friends and neighbors,” he added. “IID is proud to have delivered power to the Imperial and Coachella valleys for more than 75 years.”
During Public Power Week, IID will be distributing reusable tote bags filled with informational materials at customer service centers during normal office hours while supplies last. Customers are also invited to connect with IID on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Today, IID provides electric service to more than 156,000 residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural accounts, representing a population of approximately 450,000.
