IID board seats directors
Three candidates who were elected this year to the Imperial Irrigation District Board of Directors were administered the oath of office during ceremonies conducted Friday, December 7, in the IID boardroom in El Centro, Calif.
Incumbents Jim Hanks and Norma Galindo were joined by new director Alex Cardenas as they were sworn into office by Superior Court Judge Marco Nunez.
Their four-year terms run through 2022.
Hanks, who ran for Division 3, and Cardenas, Division 1, were elected in the June primary. Galindo, Division 5, was elected following a run-off election in November.
Hanks has served 12 years on the board and is entering his fourth term. He was first elected in the 2006 primary, but began serving following the May 2006 death of incumbent director Lloyd Allen.
Galindo was first elected to the board in a special election in 2012 and re-elected in 2014.
Cardenas was elected to the El Centro City Council in 2013 and served as mayor from 2016-2017.
