Director Karin Sol Eugenio currently represents Division 5 on the IID Board of Directors, which includes Imperial, Holtville, part of Calexico and eastern Imperial County.

She was elected to the IID Board in the June 2022 primary election.

Her civic involvement includes the Imperial Valley Food Bank Board of Directors, 2016-2018, City of Imperial Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, 2017-2018, and election to the City of Imperial City Council in 2018, serving as mayor in 2021. She is also a member of the philanthropic group P.E.O.

An Imperial Valley native, Director Eugenio was born and raised in El Centro. She attended CSU San Marcos earning a bachelor’s degree in Literature in Writing Studies and a master’s degree in Rhetoric and Writing Studies from SDSU. Early in her career she taught at both a private girl’s and boy’s school in the San Francisco and Napa areas and began her own tutoring company.

As an educator, Director Eugenio has taught at Mira Costa College in Oceanside, CSU San Marcos, and currently teaches English and Communications at Imperial Valley College and Rhetoric and Writing Studies at SDSU, Calexico. During the day, she works as a Corporate and Government Affairs Specialist for the Anza Borrego Foundation.

Her term on the IID Board of Directors continues through December 2026.
