Our Energy Department is comprised of electrical engineers that design and manage the power system and with the help of project coordinators implement upgrades or complete new construction. While our energy line and substation crews build and maintain the transmission and distribution system. Power plant personnel operate and maintain the power generation facilities. Power troubleshooters ensure uninterrupted service to the customer, while line clearance inspectors keep overhead power lines clear of tree limbs and brush and our line construction crews help keep the lights on by keeping the lines up and running. System operations personnel maintain an effective communication and data flow system that ensures safe and successful operations and coordination of our energy system. Our energy traders and analysts play a critical role in maintain an adequate supply by efficiently managing our demand and supply through connections with a broad range of energy sources. Our emergency planning personnel ensures the District is systematically prepared to respond to impacts from a disaster or any other emergency.

The Water Department has civil engineers, surveyors and construction crews who build, repair and maintain the canals and the drainage system. Zanjero's operate the canals and deliver water to agricultural customers. Water dispatchers control the flow of water throughout the system and water conservation specialists help farmers schedule more efficient irrigation. Our planning and conservation units consist of environmental engineers, specialist and hatchery workers that integrate environmental management techniques into project planning, design, and construction to conserve natural resources.

Personal computer technicians install, maintain and run diagnostic tests and respond to IID Help Desk calls. Telecommunication technicians work on the district’s telecommunications system and networks, while computer engineers and information system specialists plan and design the district’s technology infrastructure and operate information technology systems. Computer specialists evaluate potential risks  to plan and carry out security measures to protect the District's computer networks and systems. Business analysts ensure business efficiency by analyzing business processes,  recommending and implementing changes through software and application update or upgrades. Records specialists perform duties associated with lifecycle management of district records, and GIS personnel prepare, edit and digitize engineering records.

Account payable specialists review invoices and other documents for processing, while payroll administrative assistants coordinate payroll activities with supervisors and timekeepers. Financial accountants balance and maintain ledgers, journals, financial statements and reports and our customer account and service representatives interact directly with the public over the telephone or in person at a customer service window. 

Human resources technicians, specialist and analyst recruit employees and processes employee information. They also  oversee and manage employee relations and services like health & disability programs, compensation and   ensure compliance with labor laws.  Trainers assess the need for training programs, develop training materials, and coordinate employee learning programs. Security, claims and investigations personnel help with internal investigations and claims generated by both internal employees or the public. Occupational safety specialist and analysts ensure the safety, health and welfare of our employees, by assessing occupational risk factor and ensuring compliance with outside regulatory agencies. 

Purchasing technicians and buyers procure material, equipment and services, while materials technicians distribute parts and equipment. Contract specialist  draft contracts and ensure a fair and accurate bidding process for outside services. Carpenters, plumbers and other skilled tradesmen maintain the district's buildings and grounds. Machinists and mechanics fabricate materials and service the vehicles and equipment that keeps the district moving. Project managers, construction engineers and planners ensure proper asset management and direct new projects. Our compliance specialist and hazmat technicians implement hazardous materials and waste compliance programs for all District facilities.

Governmental affairs specialists work with state and federal lobbyists to advance district interests, while communication and multimedia specialist and coordinators provide public information duties, handle media interviews and inquiries, create public awareness and advertising campaigns and support community programs and events.
