As a result of a ballot measure in the November 2014 election, the IID Board of Directors began to be elected by division, rather than at-large districtwide. Following the 2020 Census, the IID Board of Directors adopted Resolution No. 50-2021 approving new division boundaries as required by state and federal law.

Each board member is elected from the division in which he or she resides by the voters of that division.
