Imperial Irrigation District is committed to supporting energy efficiency in education through the GEMS: Grants for Energy Modernization in Schools program. This competitive funding opportunity is available to public, private, and charter schools (K–12) within IID’s service area, with a focus on upgrading HVAC systems to improve learning environments, reduce energy use, and cut operating costs.

Program Highlights

• Up to $35,000 in Funding: Selected projects can receive up to 100% of project costs, with awards of up to $35,000 toward the installation of energy-efficient HVAC equipment.
• Open to All Schools: This opportunity is available to all public, private, and charter schools within IID’s service area.
• Application Process: Applications will be accepted through our “Call for Projects” process, opening on April 7. Schools can apply to receive funding for HVAC system upgrades that will lower energy consumption and improve classroom comfort.
• Maximize Savings: The program helps schools offset high energy costs, making it easier to invest in new, efficient HVAC systems that will benefit students, staff, and budgets alike.
