Capitalize on energy efficiency for your business.
About CESP
The goal with all energy-saving measures is to improve the efficiency of the customer’s business facilities, but the added benefit is increasing value to your business. IID’s Custom Energy Solutions Program is designed to promote energy efficiency by offering financial incentives to commercial customers who install energy efficient equipment and/or integrate energy efficiency design into their facilities. Encompassing major renovation and new construction projects, the CESP is now more robust than ever.
Efficiency Requirements
Qualifying measures must retrofit, replace or upgrade old equipment with new, energy efficient technologies that exceed the applicable Title 24 energy efficiency requirements as established by the California Energy Commission or current industry standards using IID-approved project baselines (if Title 24 standards are not applicable).
Financial Incentives
IID’s Custom Energy Solutions Program offers two strategies for integrating energy efficiency into your business:
- The Custom Energy Solutions alternative provides incentives for the amount of energy saved for process improvements.
- The New Construction option delivers energy efficiency design assistance and enables a whole building or systems approach in acquiring efficiency incentives.
Both alternatives provide the technical expertise to help you with your energy decisions.
Financial incentives for the CESP approach are based on annual energy savings and are intended for the customer’s use in the purchase and installation of qualifying lighting, refrigeration, air conditioning, food service, agricultural and/or control equipment:
| INCENTIVE | ENERGY EFFICIENCY MEASURE |
|---|---|
| $0.11/kWh | Lighting, Interior: Office Space, Production Line, etc |
| $0.03/kWh | Lighting, Exterior: Off-site, Public Spaces, Parking Lots, Landscaping, etc. |
| $0.18/kWh | Process Loads |
| $0.25/kWh | HVAC/Refrigeration |
The New Construction Energy Efficiency Approach offers calculated or derived incentives based on the expected performance of a system or group of measures for which the energy savings are gained based on current and proposed building energy use simulations.
| NCEE Approach | Incentives | % Exceeding Title 24 Standards | incentive rate | Maximum ANNUAL incentive |
|---|---|---|---|---|

Whole Building Approach |
Owners | 10% | $0.08 / kWh | $150,000 |

Systems Approach |

*CESP will not pay incentives for the installation of incandescent, halogen, mercury vapor, probe-start metal halide, T-12 linear fluorescent or other outdated technologies when more efficient options are available. All products installed in exterior locations must be approved for outdoor use by the manufacturer. Existing fixtures must be operational in order to qualify for replacement incentives.
Eligibility
This highly effective energy efficiency program is available to commercial customers located within IID’s service area.
