The 2019 Custom Energy Solutions Program is designed to promote energy efficiency by offering financial incentives to commercial customers who install energy efficient equipment and/or integrate energy efficiency design into their facilities. Encompassing major renovation and new construction projects, the CESP is now more robust than ever.
The goal with all energy-saving measures is to improve the efficiency of the customer’s business facilities. Qualifying measures must retrofit, replace or upgrade old equipment with new, energy efficient technologies that exceed the applicable Title 24 energy efficiency requirements as established by the California Energy Commission or current industry standards using IID-approved project baselines (if Title 24 standards are not applicable).
Financial incentives for the CESP approach are based on annual energy savings and are intended for the customer’s use in the purchase and installation of qualifying lighting, refrigeration, air conditioning, food service, agricultural and/or control equipment:
|INCENTIVE||ENERGY EFFICIENCY MEASURE|
|$0.11/kWh||Lighting, Interior: Office Space, Production Line, etc.|
|$0.03/kWh||Lighting, Exterior: Off-site, Public Spaces, Parking Lots, Landscaping, etc.|
The New Construction Energy Efficiency measures approach offers calculated or derived incentives based on the expected performance of a system or group of measures for which the energy savings are gained based on current and proposed building energy simulations.
|NCEE Approach||Incentives||% exceeding title 24 standards||IID incentive rate||Maximum incentive per year|
|Whole Building Approach||Owners||10%||$0.08 / kWh||$150,000|
|Systems Approach||Lighting||CESP Guidelines Apply||$50,000||$150,000|
*CESP will not pay incentives for the installation of incandescent, halogen, mercury vapor, probe-start metal halide, T-12 linear fluorescent or other outdated technologies when more efficient options are available. All products installed in exterior locations must be approved for outdoor use by the manufacturer. Existing fixtures must be operational in order to qualify for replacement incentives.
This energy- and money-saving program is available to commercial customers located within IID’s service area. Qualifying customers should apply for a preliminary energy analysis to determine eligibility. For more information regarding the program, including incentives, please refer to the program guidelines.
