Home MenuVegetation Management
IID’s Vegetation Management Program aims to help ensure safety and reliability of our electric power system. Trees that grow too close to power lines can cause power outages and create safety issues. By law IID is required to maintain power lines clear of vegetation and other obstructions.
For these reasons, IID prunes trees near power lines and asks customers not to plant trees under power lines. Keeping overhead power lines clear of limbs and brush, helps prevent power outages, makes it easier for IID crews to maintain and repair power lines, and helps IID meet regulatory obligations.
